STEAM Programming

Pre-School/Kindergarten

Duration: 1 hr. 45 min (Up to 75 students, 25 per rotation)

  • Welcome Orientation (15 min): Introduces branding through Corvette logos and a scavenger hunt. Includes Museum rules.
  • Museum Exhibit Exploration (30 min): Staff-guided tour tailored to grade level.
  • McMichael Family Education Gallery (30 min): Hands-on learning with design tools, circuit boards, and a gear wall. Includes a STEAM scavenger hunt.
  • Sharks & Stingrays STEAM Session (30 min): Explores how marine life inspired Corvette design through interactive activities with plush animals and die-cast models.

1st-2nd Grade

Duration: 1 hr. 45 min (Up to 75 students, 25 per rotation)

  • Welcome Orientation (15 min): Emphasizes Corvette generations and logo recognition.
  • Museum Exhibit Exploration (30 min): Guided exploration tailored to grade level.
  • McMichael Family Education Gallery (30 min): Interactive Corvette design and engineering activities.
  • Car-Animals STEAM Session (30 min): Storytime highlights sea creatures and fighter jets’ influence on Corvette design, featuring hands-on activities with plush animals and model cars.

3rd-5th Grade

Duration: 1 hr. 45 min (Up to 75 students, 25 per rotation)

  • Welcome Orientation (15 min): Explores 70 years of Corvette innovation and evolution.
  • Museum Exhibit Exploration (30 min): Tailored, interactive staff-guided tour.
  • McMichael Family Education Gallery (30 min): Engages students in Corvette design and engineering activities.
  • Clay Modeling STEAM Session (30 min): Students sculpt a clay car model, learning design principles and connections between art and engineering.

6th-8th Grade

Duration: 1 hr. 45 min (Up to 75 students, 25 per rotation)

  • Welcome Orientation (15 min): Focuses on Corvette’s eight generations and engineering advancements.
  • Museum Exhibit Exploration (30 min): Tailored staff-guided tour.
  • McMichael Family Education Gallery (30 min): Hands-on design and engineering exploration.
  • Rubber Meets the Road STEAM Session (30 min): Teams test and analyze how different surfaces affect Corvette acceleration using die-cast models.

High School

Duration: 1 hr. 45 min (Up to 75 students, 25 per rotation)

  • Welcome Orientation (15 min): Highlights Corvette’s legacy of science and engineering innovation.
  • Museum Exhibit Exploration (30 min): Interactive, grade-specific tour.
  • McMichael Family Education Gallery (30 min): Corvette design activities with tablets, circuits, and a gear wall.
  • STEAM Session Option 1: The Science of Color (30 min): Students measure how exterior paint colors affect heat absorption, analyzing data and results.
  • STEAM Session Option 2: Corvette Impact Social Studies Session (30 min): Learn about the Museum’s economic influence on Bowling Green and Warren County through an engaging presentation and Kahoot! quiz.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it cost to bring a school group?

School group visits are $10 per student for groups of 15 or more, with an additional $2 per student for STEAM Sessions. Title 1 schools and students may qualify for financial aid through the Fund-A-Field trip program.

How many students can we bring?

Groups must have a minimum of 15 students, with a maximum of 125. For every 25 students, up to 4 chaperones may attend. Larger groups should schedule visits over multiple days.

Does the Museum offer outreach programs?

Yes! The “Corvette to Your School” program brings STEAM-based activities, interactive props, and a Corvette to your school for $150, offering an engaging educational experience.

Are teacher resources available?

Lesson plans aligned with Kentucky State Standards are available on the Museum website to support pre- and post-visit learning.

How many chaperones can attend?

Four adult chaperones are allowed per 25 students. Chaperones and teachers pay $14 each, while bus drivers receive free admission. Additional chaperones cannot be guaranteed space in tours or STEAM sessions.

How long does a tour last?

Tours and programs range from 1 to 3 hours. A custom visit plan will be emailed to you before your trip.

Are box lunches available?

Yes, box lunches can be preordered for an additional fee. Schools may also bring sack lunches. Note that eating on-site incurs a small fee.

Where should buses park?

Buses should enter through Gate A, unload students at the main entrance, and park in the Oversized Parking Lot near the drop-off area.

Are accommodations available for special needs?

The Museum partners with KultureCity to offer sensory-inclusive experiences. Sensory Bags with tools like noise-canceling headphones and fidget toys are available at Guest Services. Learn more here.

What is the emergency plan?

The Museum’s security team is certified and available 24/7. AEDs are located in key areas, including Admissions, Stingray Grill, the Break Room, and the Preservation Garage.

Will there be a guide for our group?

Yes, Museum associates will welcome your group and guide you throughout your visit.

What should we do when we arrive?

Stay on the bus until a Museum associate provides instructions. If payment hasn’t been prepaid, bring it to the Admissions counter inside the lobby.

What qualifications do Education Staff have?

Museum Education Staff are trained professionals with experience in education. They have completed background checks, Youth Protection Training, and KultureCity Sensory Training to provide a safe and enriching experience for all visitors.
